About

You might know me better as an author of mystery, thriller, and sci-fi novels. While some readers of those books (and perhaps others) might consider the themes contained therein too political, what you’ll find in my blog posts here are even more so. To say the least, they aren’t for people who bury their heads in the sand.

Yes, authors have political opinions! Some readers don’t like that, and, most of the time, editors and publishers would rather they didn’t express them. But I believe authors shouldn’t remain silent just to sell more books!

Famous authors like Orson Scott Card, Michael Crichton, and Robert Heinlein had strong opinions (I don’t agree with them, but those authors are more famous than I am, so I’m referencing them). To paraphrase Tom Clancy, fiction must seem real. Real-life people have opinions, so fictional characters should also have them.

So…just consider me to be a fictional character you’ll only meet here, expressing political opinions in this blog that are very real. Or just forget about the connection between the author of this blog and fiction author Steven M. Moore. That’s not important…the ideas are!

Added note: As any visitor can see from this blog’s topics, many themes, albeit political, have been considered. However, the current political circumstances in the US have forced me into more of an “anti-fascist” emphasis in these pub posts that are, most of the time, now more anti-Trump. I don’t apologize for this current bias but give fair warning to anyone who believes that Trump 2.0 will “make America great again” when, in fact, it already was, and the wannabe dictator is bent on destroying our democracy by following the plans contained in “Project 2025.”

Still, while unabashedly biased, you will find no “alternate facts” or fascist lies in these pub posts. (If you think you’ve found one, tell me.) While old news outlets like the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal waver in their reporting (the first, under one of Trump’s fawning oligarchs Bezos–wasn’t that multi-million-dollar wedding an insult?–and the second is occasionally anti-Trump–Murdoch owns it!), my pub posts have been consistently progressive and truthful compared to the many fascist and far-right podcasts and websites that invariably distort the truth and propagate conspiracy theories.

So, pass the word around: Author Steven M. Moore speaks his mind here, i.e., speaks truth to power, despite the US’s all too obvious flirtation with fascism! And, if you’re a member of the those fascist MAGA hordes who don’t like being called fascists, please avoid reading these posts! And don’t return! You’re not welcome here and are just accomplices in the ongoing attack on US democracy!
