How do we get out of this mess?

If you’re a Democrat, or independent trending to Dem, or a member of the liberal media, and you’re not depressed, something’s wrong with you. If you’re gloating, as a MAGA maniac or a right-wing media member (e.g., a Fox News fascist), just remember your guy, that “f^%$ing moron,” Donald Jackass Trump, is seventy-eight and also showing signs of…well, let’s call it diminishing mental acuity due to old age, just like old Joe!

Everyone says that hindsight is twenty-twenty. Okay. Let me state that in my case that no hindsight is involved (besides that awful image of Donald’s big arse on a golf course): I’ve always believed for a long time that we need to put age and term limits into the US Constitution.

Problem One: The US presidency has term limits—two four-year terms max—but it doesn’t have age limits! Our democracy is now suffering because of the latter, with one candidate a well-meaning but dottering old man, the other an angry SOB with delusional sociopathic tendencies he’s had since he was in diapers but can’t begin to control now because he too is an old man.

Solution: Don’t let anyone run for president who’s older than fifty-five! Allow two terms of five years, not four. That means a president might retire at sixty or sixty-five, like everyone else!

Problem Two: The US Supreme Court aka SCOTUS has neither term nor age limits, and the country has surffered greatly from that omision by the Founding Fathers. The court’s six fascist judges are all old, ranging from the youngest, Coney Barret at fifty-two, to the oldest, Alito at seventy-four and Thomas at seventy-six, so they’re not only fascist but also completely out of touch with the majority of Americans and current events, the latter meaning that any decision they make is quite questionable. I insist on stating the latter to contradict any arguments anyone makes about wisdom coming with old age! They’re not religious gurus on the mountain offering enlightenment. They’re not gurus at all, although some think they’re like Moses leading other religious nuts to the promised land! Senility comes with old age, not enlightenment nor wisdom.

Solution: A limit of three six-year terms seems reasonable if accompanied by a mandatory age-limit of sixty-five. Those term- and age-limits might keep SCOTUS relevant…and prevent it from becoming a fascist junta.

Problem Three. We know the US Senate only exists because the Founding Fathers couldn’t quite overcome their aristocratic and racist roots and didn’t quite trust the rabble’s choice of US House members every two years. The Senate has the largest percentage of useless and out-of-date oldtimers in the institutions I’ve mentioned. You just have consider the recent example of the Diane Feinstein fiasco and how many senators have died there to realize it has become a nursing home for politicians who are completely out of touch with reality. Feinstein was an old liberal; Lindsay Graham and many others are still hanging around for the conservatives. I’m sure none of them would want competency tests because these old boys (there are a few more old girls too, like Feinstein) even though they’re definitely needed.

Solution: Age limits of sixty-five, above all, but also a limit of only three terms of six years.

Problem Four: States’ rights and the Electoral College. Of course, lack of term and age limits, even the creation of the US Senate, aren’t the only problems the Founding Fathers left us. To get the colonies to sign on to their huge federal plan, they decided to please them by ensuring “states’ rights” (read: the ability of what should just be administrative entities to throw a monkey wrench in any federal plans they don’t like. While there are many non-democratic atrocities atrributable to states’ rights, one of the worst is the Electoral College. What an anti-democratic and medieval system! While it’s true that the Electoral College ensures that the more popular states can’t wield more electoral power when electing a president, why shouldn’t they. And the way this anti-democratic insitution works in most states (winner takes all the states’ electors) is absolutely undemocratic: It’s too damn easy (for every GOP winner since 2000 with only one exception) a candidate loses the overall popular vote (often overwhelmingly) but wins in the Electoral College. Old King George must have been laughing his head off when the aristocratic Founding Fathers put that in!

Solution: Eliminate the Electoral College now! Allow the presidential election to be democratic, not a nod to aristocracy. (Getting rid of the US Senate would completely get rid of anti-democratic sins committed by the Founding Fathers. That body of one hundred buffoons is America’s House of Lords…and completely undemocratic as well as unfair: Why should Rhode Island have as much power as California in a US legislative body?)

The solutions proposed above are desperately needed to help save our country and its democracy. They’ll never be realized because politicians (Good Ole Piranhas or Dems) will always want to hold tightly onto any power they can grab. Welcome to the Fascist States of America!

One final note about those two old farts running for president (it’s hard to keep up with the news these days!): It’s quite amusing that one, in their haste to go after Biden, Dems are showing their incompetence. Why didn’t they recommend to old Joe he should get out earlier? Nader, Schumer, Pelosi, Warner, etc. are no spring chickens themselves. Maybe they should take their own advice? And two, have we lost the principal goal here? Isn’t it to stop Narcissus le Grand and his MAGA maniacs, a lot of them old fascists addicted to power, from turning the USA into the FSA (Fascist States of America)? Old Joe is the only candidate who’s done that before; I don’t see any of those Dems telling him to bow out as being capable of doing it. Or, call it too little, too late, because the primaries, that essential process for toughening political candidates, are over and done with for the Dems…and Biden won! The Dems deserve their fate. Whether the American people do is yet to be determined: Voting for Donald Jackass Trump is a vote for aristocracy, but sitting out this election is tantamount to treason!

Note: This post was planned before the assassination attempt on Trump. It still deals with important problems we need to fix, even if the Donald loses.
