I had to applaud when one ex-Federal prosecutor said that’s what Trump should get for the documents he had stored at Mar-a-Lago. Like Capone, we might not put Il Duce in jail for his other many treasonous crimes, but if we get him for tax evasion (ongoing case in NYC), election fraud and bullying (Georgia case), or now these illegally removed documents, we’ll end his chances for destroying this country once and for all. (Of course, we’d still have to deal with the rest of the fascist Good Ole Piranhas, who undoubtedly have illegalities in their CVs as well!)
The key to the scandal about the documents is that they were removed legally and some of them contain secret material critical for protecting the nation. Was Trump going to sell them to Putin who he loves so much? Or Xi? Or even Kim? I wouldn’t put it pass him. He trusts all three of those evil musketeers more than his own intelligence community!
Some of those documents weren’t only classified, they were Top Secret/SCI. SCI, or “Special Compatamented Information,” measns that they belong in a SCIF, a “Special Compartamented Information Facility,” and not in that Mar-a-Lago basement of that “f&^%ing moron.” And the moron’s claim that he can utter some despotic incantation and declare them Unclassified is pure BS. If they’re SAP, i.e., “Special Access Program,” as well as SCI, only the program can declassify, not some asshole idiot who never even listened to or read his security briefings. And for SCI, there’s a bit of bureaucracy that must be done, Mr. Chump, to declassify. And none of that matters because Trump had zero right to cart away all those documents even if he was only going to flush them down one of his gold toilets. (Actually, especially in that case, because it probably means that the documents are incriminating evidence for some of his crimes!)
You see, Biden knew what so many in the intelligence services knew when briefing Trump: That wrinkled yet vain and narcissistic SOB can’t be trusted with the nation’s secrets! So Biden canceled his security clearances along with other members of Trump’s clan. (None of them can be trusted…except maybe the ones that Trump fired.)
So, let’s go through the charges that could put Il Duce in jail for several decades: One, violations of the Espionage Act. I covered that well above, but even if the documents are only Top Secret/SCI (only!), he’s in trouble because the classification means that intel gatherers and technical people could be in danger if an enemy gets hold of them—scientists, designers, techs, spies, etc. Two, obstruction of justice. This is simple: DoJ tried to play nice with subpoenas asking for the documents, and Trump didn’t deliver them. One Trump lawyer said there weren’t anymore. The raid at Mar-a-Lago proved otherwise…and much more! Three, mishandling and illegal removal of government records. That’s clear.
Note that items two and three don’t need classified documents to make the charges stick! In fact, neither does item one! The Espionage Act was enacted during WWI when the current classification rules weren’t even established. It basically goes after anyone who acts prejudicially against the US interests. Period. Trump is guilty of that many times over!
Yes, Trump should go to jail for many decades. Lock him up! We can’t afford to let him be in charge of national security. And, if you need more motivation, remember that this out-of-control and paranoid psychopath walked around with the nuclear codes for four years. We avoided a nuclear Armageddon during his one term. We might not be so lucky the second time around!
