I’m sorry, fascist Good Ole Piranhas (GOP), but certain services (Piranhas, take a deep breath!) should be socialized and not in the private sector. Public transportation and schools have been that way since I can remember, and the world hasn’t come to an end. Health care should be as well, and I’m not talking about the ACA, which was a cave to Big Pharma and insurance companies. (Recently, even Dem Sen. Robert Menendez from NJ showed he’s a puppet with Big Pharma pulling his strings. I won’t be voting for him!)
I’m not dealing with health specifics in this article. (Okay, maybe parenthetically. Your freedom doesn’t give you the right to murder others, which is what you do if you refuse the Covid vaccine—it’s a public health emergency, stupid…and not socialism!) We have a general healthcare problem in this country: Adequate, basic health care is denied to far too many people. We’re the last among developed nations. Medicare is a potential solution for the elderly. (It would be better, of course, if it could negotiate drug prices like in more civilized countries. Take that, Mr. Menendez.) We need to beef it up and then construct a system like the ones in Canada and England where monolithic and gouging insurance companies like Aetna and Kaiser Permanente disappear, and drug, doctors’, and hospitals’ prices are controlled. It’s time. Too many people suffer and die because of the inequities in the present system! We’ll always be one of Trump’s “shithole countries” until we achieve that.
So…what’s stopping us? The fascist Good Ole Piranhas, of course (with a few exceptions, like Menendez). They’re the sycophants of America’s fascist plutocracy, and many of those plutocrats are rich owners and CEOs of insurance and drug companies (I suppose Menendez hobnobs with the latter) as well as large for-profit hospital and healthcare service networks Fascists in Congress are addicted to the funding this plutocracy provides, through campaign funds (thank you, Citizens United) and lobbyists’ favors. These rats in Congress do not care about Americans’ health care; they only care about themselves.
As far as health care goes, we need a socialist revolution. Anything less will further our spiral down into fascism, which emphasizes greed and power and not people. I fear the latter is where we’re heading. It will be the fascist plutocracy running the euthanasia clinics…and they’ll be sure to charge you dearly for the service!
