What’s your definition of “obliterated”?

We all know that Donald Jackass Trump has problems with English. While some of his gaffes just reflect the fact that he’s a “fucking moron,” he also employs words and phrases he defines via his crazy politics, leading to “alternate facts” that further his extreme fascist MAGA agenda. “Landslide” and “mandate” are examples of words he’s redefined. “Obliterated” is a new one.

As used by Narcissus le Grand, “obliterated” has a great Star Wars sound to it, so it appeals to his reality-TV persona: The Death Star didn’t destroy a planet; it obliterated it. Absolute, total destruction. Never mind that our commander-in-chief had no way to know what the extent of the damages to Iran’s nuclear facilities were. Neither does the “intelligence community,” not completely. (Of course, generally speaking, that’s an oxymoron now under Trump with Goofy Gabbard in charge. There’s nothing intelligent about the Trump administration as a whole, of course, so we shouldn’t blame stupid Tulsi too much! When it comes down to it, the buck for all the incompetent cabinet selections stops with the “fucking moron”! That includes SecDef Hogsbreath, who now is using the word “obliterated” to please his master.)

Don’t blame me too much for this negative analysis of the Iranian situation. While I had reservations about the aftermath of the bombings—I still do!—I agreed with other sane progressives (that group doesn’t include AOC, Sanders, or the new kid on the block, Zohran Mamdani) that the US military had to try. The last thing anyone should want (except a fanatical jihadist) is fanatical jihadists like the Ayatollah and his friends threatening the world with nukes. (Does the group that doesn’t want that include AOC, Sanders, and Mamdani? AOC’s threat to impeach Trump implies that they don’t give a rat’s ass!)

The intelligence community’s determination about the success of the bombings is cautious and reasonable; the determination from Trump and his MAGA minions isn’t cautious or reasonable. Time will tell which one is correct, but I’m leaning towards the cautious and reasonable. Diplomacy is still required to prevent the Ayatollah and his fanatical followers in Iran and elsewhere from getting the bomb.
