You might know me better as an author of mystery, thriller, and sci-fi novels. While some readers of those books (and perhaps others’ books) might consider the themes contained therein too political, what you’ll find in my blog posts here are even more so. They aren’t for people who bury their heads in the sand.
Yes, authors have political opinions! Some readers don’t like that, and, most of the time, editors and publishers would rather they didn’t express them. But I believe authors shouldn’t remain silent just to sell books!
Famous authors like Orson Scott Card, Michael Crichton, and Robert Heinlein had strong opinions (I don’t agree with them, but those authors are more famous than I am, so I’m referencing them). To paraphrase Tom Clancy, fiction must seem real. Real-life people have opinions, so fictional characters should also have them.
So…just consider me to be a fictional character you’ll only meet here, expressing political opinions in this blog that are very real. Or just forget about the connection between the author of this blog and fiction author Steven M. Moore. That’s not important…the ideas are!
