I don’t know who said it, but there’s ample evidence to support it: We don’t have a justice system in America; we only have a flawed legal system. And the latter all too often fails!
Let’s start at the very bottom (called the “top” by some idiots, of course): In most democracies, Donald Jackass Trump would at least be in jail for life, especially after January 6, 2021’s failed insurrection, or justifiably executed by a firing squad for treason, and certainly never allowed to hold a government position ever again! In an autocracy, of course—he admires those and their leaders a lot!—he would surely have faced a firing squad or done away with using Novichok. Narcissus le Grand has yet to face real justice in the US. He’s a “f^%$ing moron,” just like ex-SecState described him, but he’s hired a gang of sleazy fascist lawyers who know how to work the legal system (they know very well that it isn’t a justice system!).
The lack of justice begins with the faascist SCOTUS judges, of course; they’ve become our version of that evil Argentine junta during that country’s Dirty War. They have ensured that the rot oozes down from the top to damage a legal system that’s never been a justice system since the Founding Fathers were mucking around. (How many people have languished in US prisons because of unfair convictions? There’s a reason that lawyers of goodwill are frustrated when they strive to overturn unfair convictions. Recently a man was unfairly executed, but it happens all too often. And I’m not counting those other convictions against minorities that were trumped up to get some scurrilous DA running for reelection another conviction to add to his record!
Do-gooders always must be on their guard. What was that ex-Marine thinking when he protecting NYC’s subway riders from a mentally deranged man? He acted selflessly, of course, and will proably go to prison because he’s white and the NYC DA and mental case were black: Racist revenge, anyone? Certainly not justice, although clearly legal…in NYC. This poor Marine is a victim of the squad led by AOC, the same one that passed cashless bail to let murders and peerverts back on NYV streets. The persons who should be tried in this case are AOC and her accomplices! They wanted to defund the police and replace them with social workers, but what about mental health services for those who need them? Let’s go after those social workers who fail to do their jobs! Those include AOC and her crew.
If you’re reading this post, you might be thinking that old Steve has become a raging right-wing bigot. Raging maybe, but not a right-wing bigot. I just firmly believe that the first thing a country must do to deserve to be valled a democracy is to create and supprt a true justice system. We’ve never had one during our more than two hundred years. When protestors who took over public buildings on our nation’s campuses, a minority violently damaging and destroying property and harrassing students and teachers alike, shouldn’t they have been expelled or end up in jail? That Marine should never have been arrested; those violent protestors should be in jail and have their offenses listed on police records forever. What has occurred is not justice! It’s chaos created by our modern versions of lynch mobs!
Fascism lurks like a wolf in the sheep herd, ready to pounce. Let’s not encourage that wolf by perpetuating this legal system that’s never been a justice system. Democracy must save itself. The fascists certainly won’t!
