The tactic of the fascist “fucking moron” (ex-SecState Tillerson’s apt description of Mr. Trump, Version 45, but just as appropriate for Version 47) and his fascist MAGA maniacal followers is clear: The Nazis, who Trump and his rabid followers love to emulate, called it “Sturm and Drang” but have given it a new and insidious meaning: Get all the evil policies proposed in “Project 2025’ to destroy American democracy approved and passed before the US midterms.
Their evil attack on American’s rights we thought were enshrined in the US Constitution and jurisprudence and legislative tradition has so many battle fronts that even if the average American cared about what the federal government (or state, county, and city governments, for that matter) does, couldn’t possibly keep up with it all. Just as the Nazis took Austria and Poland using their tactic, the FPA (that’s the “Fascist Party of America,” once known as the GOP) will soon turn the US into the Fourth Reich.
Note that I said “even if the average American cared.” Obviously, a slim majority of US voters (not a landslide implying a mandate, but enough for Donald Jackass Trump to squeak by) don’t give a rat’s ass about democracy. The mere fact that the “fucking moron” won a second term proves the average American cares little about who has control over their lives.
The reason is all too obvious: Americans are used to voting their choices from slates of somewhat qualified candidates, meaning the latter are stupid enough to run for office when most people know nothing about them and don’t give a shit. Even some fascists are somewhat competent, at least in the sense that they’re more than one hundred times smarter than Mr. Trump (and therefore quite capable of using him for their own ends, making them a lot more dangerous as well). After voting, Americans basically ignore how their government functions (beyond the zero-content and lying tweets and sound bites that bombard them daily), focusing on work, family, and fun. That’s how it should be in a representative ideally, but this is far from being an ideal world! Especially with fascist leaders like Trump, Putin, Xi, et al,
Americans must become more aware and critical and less trusting of their government, institutions, and politicians. They must demand honest exposes, reports, and studies and read them, or their summaries at least. An uninformed voter is a stupid voter. At its best, representative democracy barely works because of human beings’ many failings; at worst, it just becomes yet another form of failed fascism like communism and theocracy. Its citizens have an obligation to make it work or suffer the consequences.
