A wild man who’s skunk-drunk is shooting his AR-15 rifle in his front yard when a neighbor complains that he’s keeping their newborn awake. He comes over and shoots at them, killing five out of ten people in the house. (Abbott the Nazi writes it all off by saying something akin to “Oh well, they were just illegals.”) In another case, a little girl’s basketball rolls into a neighbor’s yard. The neighbor goes and gets his gun and shoots both the kid and her father. E pluribus ad nauseum!
There are too many guns in America in the hands of angry men who think they have a right to use them to kill anyone they have a verbal altercation with! Constitutional law fact: The Second Amendment does not guarantee that a citizen has the right to bear arms beyond the two they were born with! Period! Any so-called expert on constitutional law who says otherwise if full of you-know-what! The Second Amendment only expresses the historical fact that the Founding Fathers who spoke and wrote an ancient form of English gave a grateful nod to armed colonial militias for their importance during the war for American independence: Militias can be armed, that amendment says. And thet still are…but today we call them National Guards! They left everything else up to the lawmakers, so citizens should only be armed by special dispensation. Gun ownership should be controlled like driving a car. It’s a privilege a citizen must earn, and that privilege can be taken away. Given that fact of constitutional law just reiterated but so patently obvious, government, federal, state, and local, can and must control what citizens do with their guns. When a citizen disobeys a law, his privilege of owning one should be revoked. And just like drivers’ licenses aren’t handed out willy-nilly (a car is another killing machine), gun licenses shouldn’t be either (a worse killing machine).
So let’s control gun ownership. In particular, let’s ban military-style weapons, high-capacity magazines, and body-damaging and mutilating ammo. No hunter can justify using such a weapon. No one wanting a bit of target practice can justify such a weapon be used in that hobby. The military needs these high-powered arms and ammunition, of course, and so do the police, who are often outgunned in many situations.
There are plenty of democracies that ban guns altogether, and they’re smart to do it. Gun ownership is strictly controlled by them, and only people who absolutely need to carry a gun are allowed to do so. That’s a sign of a civilized and sane society. Right now America has become an insane and chaotic war zone where anyone can get a gun and shoot someone he has an argument with. That’s not civilization! That’s a killing field filled with unthinking savages! The NRA is filled with the latter and coddles their fanaticism. And to let this situation continue will destroy America, not protect it.
