While the NY Times’s reorg of its editorial page continues to piss me off, thank God for Charles and other editorialists who keep the progressive thoughts coming (like other news media, fascism is creeping into those Times pages as well!)
On December 13, Mr. Blow wrote “We’re Edging Closer to Civil War.” He compares today’s rhetoric to Calhoun’s; he was that racist hothead who was a fascist long before the word was used, arguing that slavery was good so stridently that he’s considered the father of the last civil war in America. Charles uses abortion rights to support his claim that we’re heading for a precipice.
While I agree with what Mr. Blow wrote, he didn’t see the big picture: There are many other issues besides abortion rights that point to an impending civil war in the US. I dare to wrap all of these issues into one: We’re plunging into the cesspool of fascism, and these “cultural battles,” like slavery, are just more evidence for the turn to fascism in America and much of our modern world. The US’s present sorry state reminds me more of 1930s Germany than pre-Civil War America—racist and anti-abortion attacks are only a few issues that smack of fascism.
Moreover, Mr. Blow decries this edging closer to civil war. I’m not sure it wouldn’t be a good thing, hopefully a bloodless one, not like that first battle on January 6, 2021. What should the sane ones among us do with all the psychotic and moronic people who are so evil that they can only see fascism as a solution? Remember, they want to impose their will on the rest of us, just like the Nazis and their supporters in 1930s Germany!
Maybe the solution is to lock them away where these crazies can no longer harm the sane members of our society. We could force them to create the Fascist States of America (most red states now under the control of the Good Ole Piranhas would join that evil union) as we construct a new border wall to quarantine them and keep them at bay. That’s a radical solution, but sometimes to a cancer has to be forcefully extirpated to protect the rest of the body, and the body politic might not be any different.

Think the above warning about fascism is a bit harsh! Okay then, let’s work together to make sure that we’re protected from the crazy fascists running untethered in our country now. That would be a great resolution for 2022! Happy New Year to all my sane readers! (I don’t give a rat’s ass about the insane fascists, but they probably don’t read this blog. It would interfere with their watching Fox News where they’re told what to think.)
