This being July 4, it’s appropriate to paraphrase a call to arms from the American Revolution: The fascists are coming! More importantly perhaps, we should now be asking: Can we survive Donald Trump and his far-right MAGA hordes? Can we survive Bernie Sanders, AOC, and others from the far-left whatever-you-want-to-call-them? Can we survive Le Pen, Orban, and other European fascists or the old fascists like Kim, Putin, and Xi. The world is turning to fascism.
As one of the first baby-boomers, I never imagined I might end up living in a fascist country. It seems everything accomplished in the euphoria immediately following the defeat of fascism in World War Two is now disappearing. I’m not so worried about my generation of fellow Americans (of course, some of them are MAGA maniacs and others are so far left, like Bernie Sanders, that they’re fascists as well); I’m more worried about the generations that follow us. As one young woman I know put it as she watched that Biden-Trump debate, “We’re so screwed!” A perfect analysis: She summed up our country and the world’s situation in those three words!
On the far right, you’ll see the MAGA maniacs! On the far left, you’ll see Bernie, AOC, and their socialist-terrorists! Common, decent people will be caught in between those extremes in a new civil war fought over the soul of America.
Yes, I’m depressed. The US has sunk to a new low symbolized by those two old guys in last Thursday’s debate, one a complete albeit incompetent fascist, the other meaning well but living in the past; and one of them will end up in command of the sinking ship, USS America, sinking because neither is competent to run the country.
What’s wrong with the US? Can’t we find two honest politicians (maybe that’s an oxymoron now, here in the US and worldwide?) who are able to debate near middle-of-the-road and common-sense points-of-view from both traditional parties? Apparently not! Both rambled on and on and lied and lied, Narcissus le Grand doing a lot more of the latter than old Joe did (Trump’s thirty-plus lies compared to old Joe’s few, the latter’s most egregious one claiming that no US soldier had died on his watch—what about those soldiers in Afghanistan?). Mr. Biden was supposedly fighting off a cold leading to his losing the thread. Mr. Trump played it safe by repeating the many irrational threads he bloviates about in his campaign rallies directed exclusively to MAGA maniacs – he can’t get anyone else to come over to his side. (The dead microphone helped put a verbal straitjacket on that SOB, thank God!)
If only for the many decibels of irrational rants and lying claims, Trump the Chump won that earliest and most awful presidential debate ever. Trump could win the election as well, though, so Dems should start arming themselves for the new civil war that will begin with the MAGA hordes arriving to break down their doors: Every Dem household will how be as vulnerable as the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 if they don’t protect themselves and their families from the fascists!
Of course, everyone knows that that awful but telling debate was only the earliest one ever just in case one or both of those old men died before the 2024 election. Clearly Biden’s cold medicine wasn’t working, and that “f%$#ing moron” showed he needed a brain transplant to replace his diseased one, if he has any. (At least Biden has a brain!) All that and the above already said, the earliness of that debate means that there is a lot of time for Biden to recover, or for Narcissus le Grand to find a brain.
Life in the US of A will go on some way, some how. Gun dealers should do well and give yet another boost to our economy as Dems rush to gun stores in order to protect themselves. Guns sold in the US are usually made in the US—how patriotic on this July 4th, right?—so that “f*&^ing moron” shouldn’t be tempted to slap a tariff on them. (In any case, neither the Chinese nor Russians can make decent guns. Or anything else.)
I’m predicting that most people, not even the MAGA hordes or far-left zombies, will like how life goes on here, though. The spiral down into that cesspool of fascism will continue, here, there, and everywhere. Hopefully, I’m dead before we hit bottom and drown in that fascist sludge. The world will end in neither a whimper nor a bang. It will end because of the fascists! They’re coming for you. Be prepared!
