That’s what it comes down to when considering their reluctance to act on gun control. By not banning assault weapons and large magazines, they are aiding and abetting the deranged people who commit the mass shootings in the US! Innocents are dying—children, men, and women—and our 130 mass shootings so far this year will only continue because of their inaction. Every one of the Good Ole Piranhas who nixes reasonable gun control is guilty. Period!
Sure, deranged persons and racists, bigots, and haters (besides the ones in the GOP, the Fascist Party of America) can probably find guns no matter what laws we have. (Enacting them is the first step; enforcing them, even those we have, is the next.) But why in the hell should Good Ole Piranhas make it easier for these people to own military-style weapons so they can maximize the numbers maimed and killed? Assault weapons, even semi-automatics, are attractive to these evil shooters beause they can spray lots of bullets in a short period of time. They don’t even have to aim that well because assault weapons are like a fire hose spraying death! And their bullets enter innocent bodies and tear them apart. A little kid’s body can be shredded!
Ignoring the slaughter occurring in our country by falling back on the Second Amendment is not only crazy, it’s completely and historically wrong! It’s a cop-out that’s delusional and historically incorrect. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The Founding Fathers, among the many things they got wrong in the Constitution (creation of the Senate and Electoral College, not including term limits, states’ rights, etc., etc.), actually got the Second Amendment right. It’s the GOP and NRA and other gun-nuts’ interpertrations that are wrong! All that amendment really says is that we can arm our militias. Duh! We do that. They’re called National Guards now, and the amendment was only a bow to the historical importance of militias in the American Revolution. The citizens of a democracy should be protected by some sort of armed militia (although the ones on January 6 acted too late because of Trump le Chump); they shouldn’t be left unprotected because idiots choose to let crazies kill them.
There’s no way to interpret that amendment as allowing individual Americans to even own a gun! The gun-loving fascists in this country have created a false interpretation that suits their needs, and the Good Ole Piranhas in the US Congress, SCOTUS, and the red states’ fascist legislatures promote that interpretation because so much of their campaign funding depends on gun-lovers’ donations, especially via the NRA. The Good Ole Piranhas are addicted to that funding!
An overwhelming majority of Americans disagree with the Fascist Party of America aka Good Ole Piranhas’ lack of action on gun control. Voters in 2024 and beyond should use gun control as a litmus test for any candidate, no matter the party. If a politician running receives money from the NRA and supports that erroneous interpretation of the Second Amendment, a responsible citizen must not vote for that SOB. He will aid and abet any crazy person who wants to murder that voter’s children!
