SCOTUS judge Clarence Thomas, the fascist toady of the far right, including white supremacists ironically, has had and will have many cases where he should recuse himself—he’s obviously incapable of being an objective judge on anything dealing with January 6, 2021, for example, as well as cases about religious, reproductive, and LGBTQ rights. He’s the judge most responsible for the American public’s low opinion of the Supreme Court. (Of course, the other fascist judges don’t help its reputation either, especially Alito!)
But now we must ask, what about the Good Ole Piranhas in the US House, among them MAGA fascists who have secured important committee assignments because of the deals Mad Dog McCarthy made with the FC. (That’s “Fascist Caucus,” not “Freedom Caucus”—the Good Ole Piranhas in general want to destroy everyone’s freedoms, no exceptions.) Many Piranhas, especially those orbiting around Il Duce anemic dwarf star, fascists like Goofy Gaetz, Gladiator Greene, Jackass Jordan, and Mad Dog McCarthy himself, received subpoenas from the January 6 committee and could be charged by the DoJ for not responding to them as well as for their participation in that failed coup attempt engineered by Trump. (Greene even said if she and Bannon had been in charge of the insurrection, they would have won!) Shouldn’t they recuse themselves as well? These assholes want to pass judgement on President Biden and his cabinet members!
What happens to a democracy when the guilty are allowed to become judges? Exactly what the fascist Piranhas want—its total destruction! At the very best, obstruction of justice and chaos; at the very worst, a chipping away at democratic institutions, turning them into cesspools of corruption as the country becomes yet another fascist nation participating in the worldwide movement toward fascism, which is one of the two most existential problem human beings face right now. (The other is global warming, which fascists deny exists.)
Donald Trump was stupid enough to think that a coup attempt would keep him in power. The extreme fascist shakers and movers among the Good Ole Piranhas are a lot more intelligent than Il Duce. (Of course, DJT doesn’t set the bar high. It’s not hard to be more intelligent than that “f&^%ing moron!) They’re okay with that slow and insidious chipping away, little by little, as they act like vultures tearing morsels off the decaying body of US democracy. I watched Chip Roy and saw an intelligent man, an Einstein compared to Trump. Chip Roy is super-smart, but he’s also an evil fascist!
There never will be a guarantee that a given democracy will prevail the slings and arrows of a concerted attack by fascists. Anywhere, anytime, one chip that falls might bring the whole structure down. We have to defend democracy from all attackers, stupid ones like Trump as well as smart ones like Roy in this worldwide battle against fascism. Letting the guilty become the judges is not the way to do it! We have to confront the fascists everywhere, whether they’re in government or in private companies. If US democracy fails, democracy in the world will fail! That’s not a world I want to see…or live in!
